Bar Jack Beach Bar

Bar Jack – Cayman’s 5-Star Beach Bar

Mar 1, 2010

Bar Jack Beach Bar at The Ritz-Carlton, Grand Cayman promises refreshing tropical drinks, delicious al fresco dining and romantic sunset views. A new casual culinary focus at this elegant beachside eatery is the popular burger bar, where diners can relax and enjoy burgers made to order from a tantalizing selection of fresh ground American Kobe style beef, a veggie curry burger with taziki sauce, a Black Angus beef burger, a crab cake with tartar sauce, a king salmon burger with scotch bonnet sauce and a mustard seed chicken burger with chipotle mayo … Not your ordinary burgers, by any means.

To complement their selection, diners are offered their choice of side dishes, buns and toppings to create the burger of their dreams. Toppings are divided into an array of choices from the dairy, the grill, the farm or the garden and include unexpected gourmet options such as Brie, asparagus and prosciutto.

This oceanfront grill also offers the ultimate surf and turf experience – American Kobe style beef with half of a Caribbean lobster tail, and asparagus truffle mayonnaise –accompanied by a glass of Veuve Clicquot Champagne.

The menu is rounded out with a selection of lighter bar fare options suited to the tropical ambience, like the dynamic Buffalo wings or the quesadillas – kicked up a notch or two island-style with jerk chicken or grilled lobster. The crisp fresh salads range from the unique Cayman Islands green salad with mouthwatering mango, papaya and passion fruit to the classic Caesar – accompanied by your choice of jerk chicken, grilled mahi mahi, blackened shrimp or a freshly prepared crab cake. And while the food tantalizes your tastebuds, the center of attention at this beach bar is right where it should be – on the cocktails.

Famed for serving Cayman’s creamiest and most delicate Pina Colada, Bar Jack offers a dizzying array of irresistable tropical concoctions. The crisp and refreshing Bar Jack Mojito is made with Tortuga rum, mint leaves, lime juice, club soda and fresh lime. For a decadent treat try the unforgettable Mudslide – a classic mix of vodka, Khalua, Baileys, and ice cream that Cayman is famous for. Bar Jack is renowned for the perfection of their frozen drinks, so be sure to try one off the menu infused with a “lava flow” in the flavor of your choice.

And if the trek to the bar is just too arduous for you, anything on the menu at Bar Jack can even be served in the water at the new ‘Aqua Loungers’ - tables and sun beds located directly in the shallow waters of Seven Mile Beach.

Bar Jack is open daily from 10:00 am to 8:00 pm and offers nightly happy hour specials.

Footprints In History: Traditional Architecture

Cayman’s first settlers in the 1700s brought their own home-building traditions with them. The English, Welsh, Scottish and Irish had memories of timber-framed, brick or stone houses; and the African slaves’ knowledge was of mud-walled homes with grass roofs. These diverse traditions combined to develop a uniquely Caymanian building style.
