HISTORY OF THE
CAYMAN ISLANDS

The Cayman Islands is a collection of three islands; Grand Cayman, Cayman Brac and Little Cayman. It is here, in the Caribbean Sea, that the peaks of an immense underwater ridge starting 8,000 feet below the surface come up for air. Grand Cayman is the largest tip of these underwater mountains, a 100 square-mile dot of watery paradise.

Its interesting history started with Christopher Columbus discovering Grand Cayman’s two sister islands, Little Cayman and Cayman Brac, thanks to a brisk, fortuitous breeze in 1503, before English navigator Sir Francis Drake set foot on Grand Cayman in 1586.

Grand Cayman has now developed into a home for many whether it be bankers, divers, elite vacationer or professional investors, all enjoying the laidback life of the Island with the healthy dose of affluence.
